What is Meaning of FMCG?

On our journey to learn about FMCG sales and it's nuances, it is appropriate to take first baby step by knowing What is meaning of FMCG or what does FMCG stand for. 

Right.? 

So let us start  

To know what FMCG products are let us just think of all the products that you consume in one form or other on daily basis. 

Let us Start with your morning routine. 

You brush your teeth, take bath and use soap, shampoo while bathing. 

Then you use hair oil or hair gel and comb your hair. 

You have breakfast and consume wheat flour, cooking oil, spices, tea, coffee, sugar milk indirectly during breakfast.

Before moving out of home, you use perfume, cosmetics or personal grooming products.

So you notice that you consume/use certain products consume on daily basis to lead your daily life.

These daily use or often consumed products are called FMCG products. 

Due to their regular usage these products are sold very fast from outlets. That is why these products are called fast moving. 

As we use these FMCG products frequently so we need to buy them regularly.

Let us explore this acronym alphabet by alphabet.
F = Fast
M= Moving
C= Consumer (Consumer= Any person who consumes the product of goods)
G= Goods.

Any products which move fast from shop shelves are called FMCG products.
Only those products move fast off the shop shelves which are consumed and thus purchased frequently by buyers.

Examples of FMCG products include, but not limited to most of items that you as a consumer on daily bases or more frequently are all eatables (Staples,Cereals,chocolates etc), personal care products (Shampoos,soaps etc), home care products (Sanitizer, washing powders,etc) et al.

Industry which covers the details and data of FMCG products is referred to as FMCG Industry.
